In 2005, Mr. Cleary established the Law Offices of Sean M. Cleary, P.A., a firm concentrating on trial litigation and dedicated to providing the highest quality legal representation in state and federal courts. The firm's practice areas are: personal injury, including wrongful death and personal injury cases involving automobiles, slip and falls, boats, recreational vehicles and airplanes; commercial litigation, including insurance, contracts, collection matters, construction, real estate, corporate and other business disputes, fraud and other business torts; product liability involving defective automobiles, trucks, airplanes, tires, all terrain vehicles, motorcycles, medical devices, machinery, construction equipment, boats, scuba diving equipment, pharmaceutical drugs and many other consumer products; and general civil litigationinvolving cruise ship accidents, recreational accidents, and accidents at resorts in the United States, the Caribbean, Central America, South America and elsewhere.
Mr. Cleary holds special expertise in the area of motor vehicle accident litigation. Acknowledged as a skilled Miami auto accident lawyer, he specializes in resolving the complex legal issues arising from catastrophic occurrences, such as brain injury, spinal cord injury and wrongful death.
Mr. Cleary has tried numerous cases, both jury and non-jury, which have resulted in millions of dollars for clients. Mr. Cleary graduated on the Dean's List from the University of Notre Dame where he received a Bachelor of Science degree in Pre-professional Studies. He received his law degree from the University of Miami School of Law, receiving the distinction of Cum Laude. While at the University of Miami, he was selected as a member and officer of the University of Miami Moot Court Board and also participated in the International Moot Court Board, the National Moot Court Team and the Business Law Journal. In his first year of law school, Mr. Cleary and his trial partner won the Moot Court Competition. Before graduating, he was inducted into the Phi Delta Phi Honor Society.
Mr. Cleary began his legal career handling complex commercial litigation cases at the Miami office of Stroock, Stroock & Lavan, a New York law firm with approximately 400 lawyers. In 2005, Mr. Cleary left Colson, Hicks & Eidson, one of South Florida's most recognized trial firms, after working for six years on catastrophic personal injury, products liability, medical malpractice and commercial litigation matters. At Colson, Hicks & Eidson, Mr. Cleary tried numerous cases and obtained numerous multi-million dollar results for clients, both by himself and under the guidance of other distinguished attorneys.
A highly regarded member of the Florida legal community, Mr. Cleary has served as a Director and Treasurer of the Dade County Bar Association, Young Lawyers' Section. He is presently serving his second term as a Director for the Miami Dade County Justice Association, an organization of talented Miami trial lawyers working together to serve the best interests of their clients and donating time and significant moneys to worthwhile charitable causes. He is a member of the Ad Hoc Advisory Committee on Rules and Procedures for the Southern District of Florida and Ad Hoc Committee Organizing the Southern District’s Bench & Bar Conference. He is also currently a member of the Miami- Dade Justice Association (f/k/a Dade County Trial Lawyers' Association), Florida Justice Association (f/k/a Academy of Florida Trial Lawyers), the American Association for Justice (f/k/a ATLA), the American Inns of Court, and the Attorneys Information Exchange Group. In addition to his significant work with the Miami-Dade Justice Association, Mr. Cleary's past pro bono activities have included serving as a trial and appellate advocate for the Dade County Juvenile Guardian Ad Litem Program. Further, he has volunteered his time to serve on the Executive Committee of the Boys & Girls Club of Miami, Inc.
